What Formula Genius does in ChatGPT
The Formula Genius plugin helps with spreadsheet formulas in Excel and Google Sheets. It can write a new formula from a plain description, explain what an existing one does, find out why one returns an error, check that it is valid and compare two formulas.
It goes beyond formulas too. It can write SQL queries, regex patterns, VBA macros, Google Apps Script and Airtable scripts, which covers most of the small automation jobs that come up around spreadsheets and databases. You describe the job and get code back to paste in.
Results come back inside ChatGPT in a form you can read and check before you paste them into your sheet. That is useful when you want to understand the logic rather than copy something you cannot follow. You can also ask it to compare two formulas.
